Answering Your Questions

Our Own Beauty: My Philosophy

I believe that all people are beautiful, whether we have black, blonde, red, or chestnut hair, generous or slim figures, ebony, olive, or ivory skin. The important thing is to understand and be confident in our own beauty, in our own unique way, with our own sense of style.

Beauty is so much more than a two-dimensional image on the front of a magazine—it’s a wonderful and unpredictable blend of confidence, inner strength, physicality, sensuality, facial features, spirit, and personality. After all, each one of us has met physically beautiful people who seemed to become uninteresting and plain over time because their inner qualities didn’t match their exteriors, conversely, we know people who initially didn’t seem attractive to us but who grew beautiful because of who they were.

Thank, for example, of CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour, Andrea June (the CEO of Avon), Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, or Rosie O’Donnell—none of these women look alike, and yet they’re all beautiful. They’re beautiful because of their vitality, their confidence, and their comfort with who they are, which enhances their physical beauty.

My hope is that this book will help your exterior match the confidence and energy that you’re already developing within yourself.
